ABOUT

Name is Matthew John Romcevich, I know it’s a mouthful. Which is why I decided to brand my photography as SolJorn, a mashup of soul, journey and sojourn.

The short version is I’m just a guy that loves to travel and lives for anything outdoors, but most importantly I like to capture and share those moments through my photography.

The longer version goes like this…I am originally from Denver, Colorado where I was a typical front range kid; skiing with my dad, camping with my uncles, etc. The outdoors has been in my veins since I can remember, and I am a believer in nature’s powers of restoration.

As the son of an airline pilot, I have been fortunate to travel the world, and most of it before the internet, when getting to know the locals was the only way to get around. This love of travel has ingrained a sense of adventure that has led to some amazing journeys. Whether backpacking Europe by train, driving the Pan-American Highway, or living the rubber-tramp American life, seeing new places is what I love.

This love of travel and the outdoors naturally lead me to photography, which began as a simple means of capturing memories that I could bring back and share with my loved ones. I had no idea, that photography would take a hold of me, all of me. Photography has evolved beyond the simple documentary style that I started with and has become my artistic expression in capturing the beautiful creations I come across. Now I find the biggest reward to be sharing my art with those that want a reminder of a place they found to be special, or for those not fortunate enough to be able to get to these places.

Flash forward and here I am, pouring everything I’ve got into developing my passions into a career. Coupling that with the opportunity to live in Seattle, the hub of the Great Pacific Northwest, is an exciting prospect.

Hope that gives you a little idea of who I am, and hope you enjoy visiting my digital gallery. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
